1. Information We Collect

RepairSnap collects different information depending on how you use the service:

When you use the estimator (no account required)

  • Photos: Images you upload for damage analysis. Photos are uploaded to our CDN for processing and are associated with your estimate.
  • Vehicle information: Year, make, model, and location (state or ZIP code) you provide for the estimate.
  • IP address: Hashed and stored for rate limiting. We do not store your raw IP address.

When you create an account

  • Email address: Required for account creation, login, and password reset.
  • Name: Optional. Displayed in your account settings.
  • Password: Stored as a secure hash. We never store or can read your plain-text password.

When you subscribe to Pro

  • Payment information: Processed entirely by Stripe. We never see, store, or have access to your credit card number, CVC, or billing address. We receive only a Stripe customer ID and subscription status.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To analyze your photos and generate a repair cost estimate
  • To look up regional labor rates, parts pricing, and ADAS calibration costs based on your vehicle and location
  • To enforce usage limits (1 free estimate for free-tier users)
  • To authenticate your account and manage your subscription
  • To send transactional emails (password reset, email verification)
  • To improve estimation accuracy and service reliability

3. Data Retention

  • Free-tier estimates: Estimates and associated photos are automatically deleted 24 hours after creation.
  • Pro estimates: Retained for 30 days to support estimate history, then automatically deleted.
  • Account data: Retained until you delete your account. You can delete your account at any time from Settings.
  • Rate-limit records: IP hashes and usage counters are reset on a monthly cycle.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate RepairSnap:

OpenAI (GPT-4o Vision)

Analyzes your uploaded photos to detect damage type, severity, and location. Photos are sent via API and are not used for model training per OpenAI's data usage policy for API customers.

Anthropic (Claude)

Generates itemized repair cost estimates by combining AI damage analysis with our market data. Text-only processing (no photos sent). Data is not used for training per Anthropic's API terms.

Stripe

Processes subscription payments. All payment data is handled entirely by Stripe. We never receive or store your card information.

Resend

Delivers transactional emails (password reset links, email verification). Your email address is shared with Resend only for delivery purposes.

Railway

Hosts the RepairSnap application and database. Data is stored in the US on Railway's infrastructure.

5. Cookies

RepairSnap uses the following cookies:

  • Session cookie: An HTTP-only, secure cookie that keeps you logged in after authentication. Expires after 14 days of inactivity. Set on the .repairsnap.cc domain.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any similar tracking services.

6. Data Security

We implement the following security measures:

  • All data transmitted over HTTPS (TLS encryption in transit)
  • Passwords stored as bcrypt hashes (never in plain text)
  • IP addresses hashed before storage (raw IPs not retained)
  • Session cookies are HTTP-only and Secure-flagged (not accessible to JavaScript)
  • Payment data handled entirely by Stripe (PCI-compliant)
  • Automatic data expiration and cleanup for estimates

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data by viewing your account settings
  • Correct your name or other profile information in account settings
  • Delete your account and all associated data from Settings > Danger Zone
  • Export your estimate data by downloading PDF reports while estimates are active

8. Children's Privacy

RepairSnap is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
